Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 18, 2026

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

Minimalist Guitar Tuner is designed and developed by Knighthouse Labs with a fundamental commitment: your audio belongs exclusively to you. We believe utility applications should perform their duties without hoovering up user telemetry, requiring invasive accounts, or embedding intrusive tracking libraries.

This Privacy Policy outlines how the application accesses hardware, handles data, and protects your rights during testing and public release.

2. Microphone & Audio Processing (Strictly On-Device)

To tune musical instruments, Minimalist Guitar Tuner requests permission to access your device's microphone. Here is precisely how your audio is processed:

  • Real-Time Local Analysis: Audio samples are ingested locally in high-frequency buffers purely to calculate mathematical pitch frequency (Hz) and cents deviation using on-device digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Zero Cloud Transmission: We do not stream, transmit, upload, or sync audio inputs, snippets, or room ambience to external servers, cloud databases, or third parties.
  • No Persistent Storage: Audio data is processed in ephemeral device memory and immediately discarded. The app cannot save or archive audio files to local storage or external media.

3. Information We Collect

Because we intentionally architected Minimalist Guitar Tuner with zero backend requirements:

  • No Account Information: No username, email registration, password, or profile is required to use the app.
  • No Advertising Trackers: We do not include third-party advertising SDKs, ad networks, or data brokers.
  • Anonymous Platform Diagnostics: When testing or installing through the Google Play Store, Google may collect anonymous device metadata (such as device model, OS version, and stack traces if a crash occurs) in accordance with Google Play's standard privacy policies.

4. App Preferences & Local Storage

Settings such as your preferred reference pitch (e.g., A4 = 440 Hz), light/dark appearance mode, haptic feedback toggle, and sound cue preferences are saved locally on your physical device via standard platform preferences (`SharedPreferences`). This information never leaves your device.

5. Closed Testing & Beta Participation

If you participate in our Google Play closed testing track, Google Play manages your participation through your opted-in Google account. Knighthouse Labs only receives aggregated testing statistics provided in the Google Play Console (such as test install counts and tester-submitted feedback).

6. Children's Privacy

Minimalist Guitar Tuner does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. It is a completely self-contained musical utility suitable for musicians of all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app enhancements or statutory updates. The "Last Updated" timestamp at the top of this document will always reflect the most recent version.
